I am a firm believer that a well-crafted universe can support untold numbers of compelling stories and adventures across a variety of mediums. The idea of adapting my writing style and verbiage to fit the vibe of someone else's world is fascinating, and something I enjoy doing. Whether it's writing a novel to accompany an indie game project, a short story for a webcomic, or expanding the lore of an indie animation project with a novella.

Deliverables:

The full manuscript in .odt or .doc format. You can handle the cover design, formatting, and publishing yourself; or you can have me do it (see ‘Extra Add-Ons’ section)

Extra Add-Ons

  • Formatting for physical print and/or ebook editions. This includes setting trim sizes, margins, and even font selection to ensure copyright/trademark compliance. For e-books, this includes generating the EPUB file. A PDF export is also provided.
    Price: ~$350 to $500 USD

  • Cover assembly & creation. Note: You will have to provide the artwork to be used (in-game/in-engine shots for indie games, artwork for comic creators and indie animators). I can handle the rest (text, compositing, blurb, etc). Please note you will be responsible for ensuring any fonts used are correctly licensed.
    Price: ~$250 to $450 USD

  • Self-publishing guidance through Amazon KDP. You’ll need to create an Amazon KDP account beforehand. I’ll walk you through the upload & book setup process, including setting the categories and keywords.
    Price: $250

My Approach:

My goal is to write something that feels like it belongs in your world. I put a strong emphasis on matching tone, character voice, and thematic consistency while still brining my own strengths in pacing, emotional depth, and character relationships. This vibe-matching goes all the way down to even word selection.

As a lifelong gamer, comic reader, and animation enjoyer, I have a three-pillar approach to understanding your project's world:

  1. Going hands-on with your IP: Playing your game, reading your comic, watching your animations/series. I have worked in the software industry for over a decade, including 3 years in a game studio, so I am familiar with non-disclosure agreements when necessary.

  2. An assembled soundtrack (as a Youtube playlist) that you feel distills the emotional vibe. Whether this is your original soundtrack, or off-the-shelf tracks that you feel best represent your project.

  3. A strong process of collaboration and iteration to give you ample opportunity to course-correct when necessary.

How It Works:

The process generally goes as such:

  1. Initial conversation about your world, vision, and scope

  2. Proposal & rate discussion (I am open to flat-fee, hybrid, and royalty-only models):
    Flat-fee: Fixed payment across three milestones - 33% on signing, 33% on first draft delivery, and final 33% on final revisions accepted (prices listed assume fixed)
    Hybrid: 75% of listed price as fixed payment across three milestones, plus 25% royalties on copies sold after you earn back your up-front payment
    Royalty-only: Zero up-front cost, but I earn 50% royalties on all copies sold

  3. Contract signing

  4. Outline approval

  5. First draft (frequent check-ins for assessment)

  6. Revisions

  7. Final delivery & sign-off
